Advice on Basic Bank Accounts from CCCS

Hi I thought I'd post this on here – I’ve also posted a similar one on DFW board – hope that’s ok.
Anyway - after various refusals for basic bank accounts (see thread on DFW) I phoned CCCS as am supposed to starting DMP with them soon. They told me that they are getting quite a few queries about this at the moment. I was advised;
• try Barclays. CCCS work with them and so they will (hopefully) be more aware
• try quoting para 3.1 of the banking code
I looked this up and it says the following;
3.1 Before you become a customer, we will:
• give you clear information explaining the key
features of the services and products you tell us you
are interested in;
• assess whether your needs are suited to a basic
bank account (if we offer one) and if they are we
will offer you this product;
• offer you a basic bank account if you specifically
ask, and meet the qualifying conditions for one;
• give you information on a single product or service, if
you have already made up your mind; and
• tell you what information we need from you to prove
your identity (by law, we have to check your identity).
So I'm going to try Barclays tomorrow. Wish me luck.......
