The whole programme is all about investment oppotunities and nothing to do with buying a home.
Its just more shallow, cheap tat we get from Aunty Beeb. I don't blame the BTL ers personally as the ones that Ive met haven't got much up top and are generally touching cloth with worry ,most are just lemmings.....
I don't tend to mix with people 'who haven't much up top' so I can't really commentChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -
We used to have a BTL property. We had great tenants who had sold their house to move to Italy but wanted some time before their daughter finished first school and also learn some Italian before they went, so they rented our place.
They'd been there 18 months and wanted another 6 months before they left for Italy, so as they'd been great tenants we gave them their last month free. As a thank you they cooked us dinner so we had an unusual situation of having dinner in our house with the people who were renting it. 'Twas a lovely evening.
It was a business transaction for two years where they were very happy and we were very happy. Simple as that really.
Mods: this doesn't really fit with the rant at the top, so please feel free to delete. Thanks.
Note to OP: less words in capitals next time, because you come across as a mentalist.0 -
Does this apply to me as well. I bought a place but I am now renting it?0

All i know is that BTL is a evil non wealth creating speculative gsme that many are playing, and i for one want it ended,
I'm going to ask this for what might be the 165th time on this forum.
In 2003 my girlfriend and I wanted to rent a place for a year before moving from the area. We didn't want a council house or LA house, we wanted to rent a house from a private landlord for a period of 12 months.
There are hundreds of thousands of people like us. Where, or who, would we rent a house from if you 'ended' buy to let?0 -

You really expect an answer from the people that are long on emotion and short on actual ideas? Please remember other opinions are available.0 -
Surely this, as in with any other walk of life, you get good and bad.
Maybe you would prefer to see more boarded up, derelict properties & families living on the streets.
Without the BTL investors where would these people live?
I'm sure that some do look on it as a way to make a quick buck but others are in it for the long haul & look after good tenants well.0 -
you have a point op , good luck with your crusade , hope you can take it further than a rant on msemy favourite food is spare ribs0

Well the thought of being called landlord scum has prompted me to sell up and start a wheel clamping business.
Not sure what the OP wants, I am sure that local Government is just as happy when people go in asking for a free month. Please remember other opinions are available.0
