Does vinyl/lino get sealed at the edges?

Quick q...new vinyl in downstairs loo (no bath/shower etc). Skirtings were in first so vinyl is butted up against them. Double sided tape used at joins and doorway etc.
Do the edges get sealed with a bead of silicone between vinyl and skirting, or are they just left?

I have had vinyl professionally installed twice. Its a job I wont attempt , no room for any errors .
One did it with , one without.... and that means I am no help !0 -
Tell me about it! I'm ashamed and embarrassed to admit it took me the best part of 2 days to fit! The loo is tiny! Done now though, just didn't know if I needed to silicone or not.Herman - MP for all!0

yes vinyl should be sealed at edges. i have been fitting for about 30 yrs and always seal edges with a clear silicone especially in kitchen where there may be spills water or foods etc that can get under vinyl although i have seen vinyls where fitters have used it to hide bad fitting.0
