Obtaining personal details from bank account

Hi,
I recently made a purchase for an item with the value of £200, the seller had very good feedback so had no issue with going thru with the transaction, he sent me his mobile number and bank account details, and i paid straight away, this was just over 2 weeks ago.
I have called and txt the number but haven't got an answer, i did get an update this morning at 11 am, to say it was shipped and he will supply tracking info, but as yet nothing.
So what i am asking is, if i report him for theft, can the police obtain his address from the bank account details ?
Thanks

They'd do it in a few minutes if they'd murdered someone, so yes, they can. Whether or not they would bother for this scenario is another matter. I hope things turn out well for you but I don't like your chances, to be honest. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
When you say the seller has good feedback does that mean it was on ebay?
If so you can obtain their details yourself automatically from ebay.
To request your seller's contact information:
Click Advanced search at the top of most pages.
In the Members section on the left side of the page, click Find contact information.
Enter the seller's user ID and item number.
Click Search.
Notes:
This only works for members you have had recent dealings with.
The seller is informed you have done this and gets sent your details in return.0 -

Wasn't ebay just a forum, another member paid for an item a tad more than myself who has not received his item either, he has been pming me updates as he seems to get an answer from the seller when he calls !
Seller didn't accept paypal either, my fault for not getting more details but with his feedback and the good mods of the forum i trust it should work out ok0 -
Seller should have accepted Paypal unless it was an auction for a motor vehicle.
I would start by reporting them to eBay for requesting an unsafe payment - done through the item listing -> Report an Item.
You can file a small claim through the courts system."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

It is theft and yes they can get the details from the bank account details. Durham plod have successfully prosecuted some !!!! who ripped my gran off for £2000. The only thing they had to find him was the bank details.0

I don't suppose you'd get very far, as the sale wasn't though eBay. :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
