Unless you are wanting some special edition versions of shoes etc (only available in the States), I don't think that New York is the cheap shopping place for trainer that you think it is.

There used to be a huge difference, but not so much now.

You also must take into account the space in your luggage that shoes take up and custom duty should you spend more than the allowed amount.

Also, the sizing is different in the US, and just because it says 'UK size 7' on the shoe does not always mean that it will be a UK size 7. I tried on several shoes before I realised that I was a US version of a UK size 9 !!

  • Actually with regards to Converse the sizing is exactly the same. Mens 7 is a mens 7 over there.

Try Macy's departmental store. They've always got sales on. Also, take your passport to their Customer Services department and as a visitor to the USA they will give you a discount card that entitles you to I think 11% off of most things in the store, even sales items.
