Vibrating washing machine upstairs

I've just moved in to an upstairs flat and bought a washing machine which was installed the other day. I put my first wash on yesterday and found that the machine goes NUTS on a spin cycle! I'm a bit worried that the vibration might be a bit much for the floor/downstairs ceiling to handle as it's a Victorian terrace conversion and don't know how strong the floor is. I found myself hovering by the machine the entire wash and pressing down on it every time it went in to a spin with my hands. Obviously I can't do this every time I put a wash on!

Am I being paranoid about this or should I be concerned? Not much fun for the guy living below but I'll make sure to put a wash on at social hours only

You need to adjust the feet so its sitting correctly you may also need to put a square piece of board underneath it as Victorian floorboards can be uneven, for the time being use a slower spin speed.

Did the previous residents have a WM in the same place?

Have you read the installation instructions and undone the transit bolts???? If you haven't, then the drum will be solid in position and only able to spin left and right - you should be able to rock the drum from front to back of machine.

Consequences are vibration - which seems to be your problem and drastic reduction of machine life.

There was a WM in the same place previously - and it was installed by a plumber who did the whole transit bolt business. I'll take a look at how level it is tonight and see if there's anything i can do. The plumber did comment that my kitchen counter height is higher than average and so for example with the dishwasher he advised me to get a piece of wood and stick it in on top towards the back so the dishwasher can't tip over on opening the door with heavy pots and pans. Might this same issue be contributing to the WM?

You might want to think about getting something like these

to go under the feet of the machine. They worked a treat for us.

They look useful. May I ask how easy they are to install? Our washer fits quite tightly into its slot, once the feet are under the machine do they grip the floor very strongly, or do you think we will be able to slide it back into its hole? Its on a tiled floor.

Our machine was repaired last week and we managed to slide it back in on the feet (on bare floorboards) without any great difficulty.

When we moved house the removal guys had two strips of very shiny slippery stuff that they pushed the machine back on and then pulled out from underneath. Looked a great idea.
