How many searhes is "bad"?

Just wondering what the limit is on how many credit searches you would be comfortable having in a year - seems to have become an issue for me. I have had about 10 - due to moving house mainly.
Most of these were last summer though - does this mean I really need to wait till next summer before letting any more creep on to my record?

I had 6 in a day 6 months ago (i just asked for a loan out of interest and the company asked 6 other companies who all did searches) my credit rating went from good to poor in a day but now 6 months later its back upto good. take what you will from that i dont really understand it all myself! just keep smiling!!0

General advice seems to be more than 3 in a 6month period can make you start looking desperate for credit and so affect your chances of getting credit. Once they are over 6months old they don't seem to have too much impact.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
