Banking fraud

Have recently been subject to monies being taken from my current account without my knowledge. This was reported to my bank within 2 days of me noticing it through my online banking. Will this money be repaid. The online help people told me that it was taken at the same time as I paid in a cheque.

What did the bank say? They will know more than anyone here.
  • This happened to my son recently only he was informed by email as his password and personal information was changed. They then went on to purchase approx £300 worth of gifts and an O2 top up.

The money was re credited to his account with approx 2 days of him informing them. They sent him a questionair to fill in to prove the debits were fraudulent and he had to sign this so they can investigate and inform the Police if necessary, but the chances of them doing this are actually quite small.

So, you should be OK, it's a horrible feeling when it happens, my paypal account was hacked last year and whoever it was decided to buy a gun with it, hence I don't leave my details stored on any website now.

No need to panic, which bank is this with?.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
  • Thanks for the replies.
    I bank with Barclays.
The online help people have told me I will be contacted by there fraud department within 72 hrs. No mention of any money being re-funded to my account at the moment

    Tell us about the cheque.

I hope, it did not come from someone you've never heard of, but was made out in your name. That's a well-known scam.

No, it was from a close friend.
