Vauxhall Monterey 3.1D anyone had one?

Basically thinking of a Monterey 3.1D but wondered if anyones any experience of them?
Any problem areas, things to look out for etc.
Not looked at it yet, no details other than it goes (seen it running around) just looking for any pointers before I do.

No but a ran a SWB 3.1 TD Trooper for 18Months which is basically same vehicle....

Indestructible... mine was abused having been a farm vehicle for 12 years and was on 180k when I got it...Bought unseen and with No Service History;) I used it hard aswell in the time I had it... All mine had was Rear Discs and Pads and 2 Oil changes in the time I had it...

3300Kg Towing on a SWB and 3500Kg on the LWB...

Check tops of chassis rails behind the rear wheels... And Front and rear crossmembers... Hard to see them behind the bumpers but well worth checking... 50mm box section makes a nice replacement. Tops of the Fuel tanks rust from the top and can cause all sorts of running probs... Not a nice job to change.

Ensure 4x4 works as it should.... Green light should flash as it engages/disengages and be lit solid when engaged. No light when disengaged.... Should Imagine the Monetery will have Shift on the Fly 4wd... Most of the 4x4 problems that can occur will be the vac pipes/solenoids and wiring under the little mud guard on the Front axle... Should hear a gentle hiss as you move the short stick back and forth to 2h/4h...

Avoid the Dealers... Vauxhall may be better than Isuzu but parts are silly... ECPs do or used to do a lot and there is Milners 4x4 aswell.

As Flying-High said, thay're basically the same as the Isuzu Trooper. In fact, Vauxhall used Isuzu engines in their smaller diesel cars for some time, too. I had a 1996 Vauxhall Astra 1.7-litre Turbo Diesel which was an Isuzu engine, and would favour these over the GM engine that was the alternative diesel lump, both in terms of performance and reliability!

Another one that ran a 3.1D Trooper - had mine for 10 years and did 160k miles from new. Very reliable and excellent towing abilities - towed dive boats and horse trailers.

Would have another one in an instant if needed and they were still available!
