When do searches fall off?

Hi
I was just wondering when searches actually come off the credit file - I have a number due to recently moving and needing to get up and running with credit. I had a default that has been removed since it was inaccurate (within hours, well done Experian!)
I have read varying stories that they are between 6 and 12 months, a definitive answer would be good
thanks

12 months.
There may be greater weight place on searches in the last 6 months by some lenders. This might have been what you read and where your confusion comes from.0
