25 and 3 Years No Claims

Am I living in the past?

I was under the impression that when you got to 25 you saw quite a drop in your car insurance.

I am now 25 and I have 3Yrs NCB.

But for some reason, my premium has gone up from £400 to £450.

I know this is the usual ploy of insurance companies and I therefor shop around.

But after shopping around it appears that £400-450 is the cheapest and with the same company.

Has car insurance gone up that much???? Or is it due to the extra claims in this weather?

    Your impression was "half right".

What drops when you get to 25 is your extra compulsory excess for being a "young" driver gets dropped, rather than the premium dropping a lot.

Car insurance has gone up a lot, for a number of reasons.
So you are probably seeing less of an increase than other people.

The reasons include - bad weather last year, insurers making losses, increased fraud, a big increase in personal injury claims, general inflation.
Unfortunately whiplash injuries are very hard to disprove, and there has been a big increase in people claiming whereas in the past they would not have had access to free legal help.

Regardless of your views on any of that the fact is that insurance has gone up for a lot of people, so you probably are benefitting somewhat by yours not going up too much.

Yep, in the old days people used to get legal aid where the solicitors got paid for what they did.

Now we have no win no fee and the solicitors get paid for what they do plus a 100% uplift, a genius idea, bound to save money that one
