Agent witholding deposit - please help!

Hi,
Can anyone help please?
I moved out of a flat just over a month ago. Initially the LL wanted to deduct various things from our deposit for things that were already wrong with the property. Fortunately, and despite us asking for one, an inventory was never done when we moved in and so the LL could not deduct a penny. The deposit was/is held in a TDS.
Anyway, in our tenancy agreement it stated that we would get our deposit back within 30 days. The LL agreed to no deductions after 15 days, verbally. Ever since we’ve asked the letting agents for the deposit, but they’ve said that they need written confirmation from the LL before we can have it back!
It’s now been 36 days…
Obviously it’s Christmas coming up. It’s London so it’s quite a lot of money too!
Surely this isn’t legal and it’s in breach of contract. Is there anything do? Is it worth me complaining about the agent to the regulatory body? Could that get me anywhere?
Thanks in advance!

Go to the TDS and ask for it back ? That's what it's there for!0

Thanks, but is there any way to name and shame the agents for their incompetence?0

Not really. Agents are unregulated, mostly unqualified , mostly useless greedy gits (there are exceptions, but they're rare).
Not worth worrying about - concentrate on getting your deposit back. The landlord will almost certainly dispute it, but without
an inventory you should win.0 -
