We are going to save money. Our credit ratings are shot but we have plenty of income at the moment and few monthly commitments. We spend mony on crap. We are going to try and have NSD's as often as possible and work together on it wherever possible. Starting with NSD's on the 25th/ 26th/ 27th December. My aim is that we save 3K this year.

  • I'm going back to basics and becoming a jedi (just effing do it-thanks for that one Esqulax from one who makes their life so much harder by procrasternating).

By that I mean re-evaluating everything because I seem to have lost myself the last few years and I want to:

    Stop being so wasteful
    lose weight
    exercise more
have more fun and less fear
    prioritise more.

I hope it's a really good year for everyone and that we all encourage one another to chase (and catch) our dreams.

    Thanks Asiacat for the thread.

This is a very inspiring thread! I'm not sure that I know all of my objectives for 2011 but I certainly have a few:

    - Get Fit Again! Join the gym, start gig rowing again and get my darn bicycle fixed!
    - Get A Steady Income! Find an investor for my business, get my Door Supervisor licence.
    - Go On Holiday! Plan, research and go on a cheap but really fun holiday with my gf.
    - Eat Properly! Meal plans, fixed shopping lists and no junk!
    - Get Transport! Pass both my motorbike and car tests then buy one or the other!

    My aims are simples...

I think the hardest thing to do will be to give up procrastination. I'm a stickler for putting things off. Im going by my brothers mantra - JFDI - Just 'Effing' Do It!

NSFW and of course the 'F' Word but this guy has based a practical and useful way of using the F word to relax and deal with things that works for some.

I am self employed with a good but sporadic income.
Having been plenty behind with my tax bills for the past decade and fighting to catch up, as well as paying off the odd CCJ for tax arrears etc and being lumbered with penalties and interest due to my arrears, I WILL finally have it cleared, up to date and be ahead for once.

Its easier said than done but I will strive to get there and continue the marathon until i have completed it.

The support I have had from people on here has stopped me throwing in the towel and giving up. I won't bore you all with the details of how I got into the mess i did.

Thanks folks and have a happier 2011.

    My list of things to do in 2011;

Have at least 10 NSDs per month, and if I don't manage this, forfeit £20 into a sealed pot!

To help with the above, I will take breakfast and lunch to work at least 4 times a week, and even soup for dinner if I KNOW I will be working late - this will also help me shift 2 stone!

I will cut my eating out for dinner to once a month, and lunch to once a month (including take-aways) unless someone else is paying!!

I will get a tesco clubcard as I can earn LOADS of points on petrol

I will not procrastinate - make lists when I need to and STICK to them!

I will do half hour self improvement per day, and when I can't I will save them up and ensure it's done within the week - this can be money planning, ebaying, making crafty items to sell, do some kind of course, research my business idea

When my card/loan are paid off - I will only ever have necessary debt - ie mortgage and car - and I will try to overpay as much as possible

I will STOP buying magazines - I will read books, and swap them with friends

I will also remember - its the little things that help!

    1% challenge - Started Feb 2014. Cap1 card £1,073.42
    1% = £10.73 0% so far

    10 NSDs per month
Sorry to be a pest but what does NSD stand for?
When my card/loan are paid off - I will only ever have necessary debt - ie mortgage and car - and I will try to overpay as much as possible
Yep, I will from now on only use credit that is a morgage, not even for a car. (Cars lose money, not make it and even if you pay £1000 for repairs a year it still is cheaper than a car on finance by the time you purchase, pay interest and then depreciation and then possibly still repairs)

Edit; oh almost forgot to update here, well I realise that the new year isnt here just yet but since one thing was to stop procastinating....I started my clear out by throwing something broken out today (ok it's one thing but considering its still 2010 and if I do a little towards it everyday..) and by using xmas money to pay off my council tax debt, so thats one down....

Good luck to everyone on thier resolutions and hopefully hear about your progress.
