Hi There, I have a wired house alarm installation which has recently developed a fault.
Everytime i try and set it i get a error message saying "setting fault" and then a zone. If I omit that zone, then i get the same message for the next zone...
I have also noticed that the PIRs are not lighting up when i walk past them and do not respond to a walk test.
Normally I assume this would mean that a fuse is blown, but the control panel is lit and works fine with the power light coming on. Also the panel where the LCD code panel connects into is also showing a powerlight.
The Alarm is a Accenta Optima. but instructions have no troubleshooting advice or phone numbers to call.
Does anyone have any idea, or know the support number for these guys?
Appreciate any advice you can give

In our office those pir, on powered should light once movement is detected even if no alarm is not on.
If all the pirs do not light, I would take an uneducated guess and say the power circuit to the sensors has failed, blown a fuse.
Power light is probably incoming mains, and the control box powered off a different supply board, or circuit on the same supply board.0 -
I was thinking it was a fuse aswell, but as the main powerboard has a light on and no additional visible cabling, not sure what to do next.
Also, conscious of opening the box as i dont want to trigger a tamper.
Any thoughts?0 -
Get an alarm engineer in? Doesn't have to be one from the manufacturer, but usually yellow pages entries list any specialities.
Will your house insurance still be valid if you service it yourself?0 -
Probably will be, but at the rates the engineers are charging for a call out, it seems it may be cheaper to just go out and buy a wireless system for about £1500

I've fitted a couple of Optima's - they are generally fairly reliable. I'm guessing fuse F4 has blown - that's the fuse on the 13V line which supplies the detectors. Do you know the engineer code for your box? It would be useful to avoid tripping the alarm when you remove the front panel. The factory default is 9999, but the installer may have changed that. However, you should get away with using your user code - the alarm will sound when you take the front panel off, but treat it like an accidental trip of the alarm - user code then reset. REMOVE THE MAINS POWER BEFORE REMOVING THE FRONT PANEL. Change the fuse if blown (it's the one on the left), then replace the panel. It's a 1A 20mm quick-blow. Careful not to knock thetamper switch with the spring on it - you'll set the alarm off each time you hit it which is a pain, but just code and reset as above.
Here's a link to the Engineer's manual. Hope this helps. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
