Any views or better ideas.
Just a bit puzzled as if I do not get an external Cd drive what is the best way to put Kaspersky etc on it?Could I just copy the files form my Pc & use a USB drive to transfer them?

Cheers

I think the days of dragging and dropping files for most applications have have not worked for quite a while due to shared files (in other directories) and registry entries.

you could copy the installation software to usb disk, or pen, use dropbox. Share the cd on the other PC and connect via wireless. attach files in gmail also works.

think a usb disk would be easiest

You could download Kaspersky and use your license key to install it.

pc world sell same model for 199 but of course with john lewis you get the improved warranty length
  • You could always get a free anti-virus tool, as an alternative

    e.g. http://free.avg.com

You would just download and install it from the net

For multiple personal files & notes, etc. copied between PCs that I own/manage I'd use Dropbox; for installing software from CD, I'd share a CD drive across a network; for selectively transferring a large number of files on an ad-hoc basis between my own PCs, I'd use FTP; for transferring a single large file, I'd copy it over a LAN if I could, or put it on a USB stick or SD card if I would be visiting the client PC in person, or use YouSendIt (or a competitor) if not.

There are almost too many options!

yeah just use a usb flash drive to copy the exe file, I personally would do it that way than connecting to the net to go the the kaspersky site to download the file all the while having no antivirus.

to share large files over a network to the addition of what you said you can also use live mesh (like dropbox) which will copy large files on the same network the over your LAN aswell, I think dropbox also has introduced the same functionality.
