Pre-selected for every Credit card going

In the past two weeks I have received about 6 credit card offers where I have bee pre-selected to apply. I never use to receive any.

I have a credit card which I only use for purchases and I pay the balance off in full each month. The only reason I have this credit card is to create a credit history for a mortgage application.

I was wondering instead of disregaring more cards, whether or not I should apply for another one or two. Would this improve my credit rating or is one card sufficient? Is the fact I pay off the balance every month a positive for a mortgage applications?(only had one for about six months and monthly bills usually less than £20).

Any help appreciated.

    'Preselected' doesn't mean anything.

IMHO one card is sufficient for creating credit history (if reported to both CRAs). Credit searches related to new applications can only worsen your credit rating for a few months.

Don't believe this 'Preselected'....I received one from Halifax. I returned it and got rejected! And that was my ONLY application which I got rejected.

I receive these often, they really irriate me because they put all your personal details already in the application form, so easy to be frauded.

I get about one daily....not just limited credit cards either. Its the same with loans. Like the above poster says, they put all your details on there. This is one practice that they should ban.

I think there is a difference when being "pre-selected " - I have had 3 of these in the last 2 months and none of them ask for employment details apart from your employment status and earnings.
  • I got one from Black Horse yesterday, though upon closer inspection there was a little "+" by the word pre-approved, and in font size 0000000.1:rotfl: down the bottom it said the usual subject to status etc
