Freezing credit card payments if not employed anymore?

Hi guys, basically I'm hoping to move away by march and start a new life up north. I owe Halifax 2k on my credit card, interest rate is about 29% and my credit score isn't great, I've been refused a loan from them in the past and a card from Barclay's with 0% which would have done nicely.
Just wondering, would they freeze payments for say 2 months? Unlikely I'll have a job straight away when moving up there, hopefully within a month or 2 maximum though.
Just wondering a way around this, as the £50 payment a month would help so much, even with travelling expenses looking for work.
Thanks

only one way to find out....ask them nicely0

I doubt it very much...they'll still want some kind of payments.0

Thanks guys. Guess I'll ask nearer the time. I've never missed a payment so hope it holds me in good stead.
I don't even mind paying £25 a month (half is possible)
Thanks again.0 -
Unless your credit rating is already trashed, I'd just keep up payments...0

I wouldn't bother... Haven't you heard of the North/South divide? ;-)0 -
Couldnt you just spend £50 on the card each month? I know that the interest will still be going on the card but if it's just for 2 months it's easier to just use the card than to ask for a payment holiday and use the cash you would have handed over the counter to make the payment instead.
I'm assuming you card is neither maxed out or closed.0 -
If you have a job at the moment then the sensible thing I would suggest is to save some money before leaving your current job to enable you to keep up repayments. If you can save enough to cover your minimum repayments for 6 months or so at least you can keep the move as stress free as possible, and if you do find a job straight away the cash all helps to tie you over to that first payday which can sometimes be a long wait.
Even if your CC company allows you to hold payments for 2 months there is no guarantee you will have a job at the end of that period and then things could begin to get very difficult.
Finally, good luck with the move0 -
You will trash your credit record if you don't meet the minimum payments.
You could ask for a payment holiday.
You other best options are pay the minimum.
Can you save up before you go?
You have probably now missed the chance to get extra work over Xmas (companies like Argos take a lot of temp staff on).0 -
spend less keep up payment. get extra job doing anything whne job ends so you not go in debt any more.always looking for new things0

Why not get a job before moving?0
