Can anbody help with syncronising my ipod with my laptop. I have a new laptop and have downloaded i tunes. At the moment I have albums from CDs and downloads on the ipod and some albums on my itunes library. When I plug in the ipod to sync with the library i get the message that the ipod is synced with another i tunes library do I want to erase this ipod and sync with this i tunes library. I do not want to do this as I do not want to lose the music that is on the ipod but not on the library. Is there any way that I can transfer the music on the ipod to the music on the library. I have just bought and downloaded an album which will not sync unless i erase what is already on the ipod???

Under my computer - Tools - Folder optiosn - tick enable hidden files to be seen. Open itunes up and open preferences. Connect ipod to laptop (the above step will prevent ipod syncing). Open up the ipod from my computer - find all the music in the relevant folders and copy onto your laptop. Then open all this music in itunes and put it back onto the ipod... However will you be running 2 itunes?0

Click Start, then My Computer or COmputer (assuming you're using a Windows variant; if you're using a Mac, this will differ)
You need to google terms like
"itunes library recovery from ipod"
"recover itunes library from ipod"
and variants on same.
iTunes etc presumes that iTunes on the PC/Mac will be the master, and the iPod the slave. As you've found out, a Sync, if carried out in this circumstance, will overwrite the current content of the iPod. Essentially, some of the links that you'll find with the searches give guidance on how to copy the content of the iPod to the PC and populate the iTunes library with it. I think you may lose the downloarded album which is in the current library though.0
