relisting costs

Does it cost anything to relist an item with no bids?

I feel a bit bad, I aksed someone if they were thinking of relisting an item which I found in completed item search - finished on 17th Oct 2006.

I suggested the postage with parcelforce would be 14 pounds (they had previously estimated 10 pounds which could be done if posted in several 2nd class packets) - indicating I would be willing to buy it and pay that postage.

I tried to get the seller to deal with me off ebay by giving my email address and saying "or if you prefer to discuss this off Ebay". I know it's not allowed, but I think it's pretty obvious from that I am offering to buy it out of Ebay, so they don't have to pay for listing fees.

But I ran into some hardluck the day after it was relisted, now I can't afford to have this item. So I was wondering did it cost him/her anything to relist it?

The start bid was 10 pounds.

35p insertion fee, 15p if they put gallery on it.

Although if it does sell to someone else they will be refunded the relist fee - so here's hoping they do!

Oh, so the first listing (with no bids) would have had a refunded listing fee?

And if no bids this time also a refund will be given.

I need not be concerned then, because if he gets a bid he will sell the item, and if not he will be refunded.

If only! No, it wouldn't have.

    Afraid not.

First bit right, second bit wrong :)

Fees for the first listing are only refunded if it sells second time around.

The first listing fees are not refunded. If the item sells after relisting only the second listing fee will be refunded but not the gallery or any other upgrades. In short if the item doesn't sell this time, the seller would have lost a further 50p if he had used a gallery photo or 35p if he had not. HTH
