Hello, i hope you maybe able to help me.
I am 25 weeks pregnant with no 2 - during my first preg i was working pretty much full time so got 9 months of mat pay but this time i only work 5 hrs a week - so i won't be entitled to mat pay as i don't earn enough but will i be entitled to stat mat pay and how do i go about finding out / claiming? Is it my employer or the job centre i need to contact?
Also will i be entitled to the sure start grant, i wasn't last time and i do get tax credits but not sure if im in the right cat to get it. My dp earns £15k a year and me not alot now i'm only doing 5 hrs a week.
Thanks in advance to any help x

depending on how long you have been working there (ie before you conceived) you should get MA at 90% of your wages. Your employer usually gives you a form saying why they can't pay SMP (ie earn under the threshold in your case)0
-
And you should get your midwife to fill in the HIP grant form right away.
As for the SureStart grant, apply for it, you never know. :heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0 -
Ok i'll ask my employer - its my parents that i work for but the chap that does all the wages etc will be in tomorrow.
I have sent off my HIP grant - i just scraped that by 2 weeks luckily!!!0 -
You should be entitled to maternity allowance - I got it in my first pregnancy when I was only working 3 hours a week.0

As Onlyroz says, please check out out Maternity Allowance. When I discovered I was pregnant I was only working part-time due to ill-health - and MA was actually more than I was being paid!

Isn't it funny how the minute someone gets pregnant they are on here wanting to know what bloody benefits they're entitled to?
When me and OH were having a family we wanted to enjoy the moment.
Seems like nowadays all anyone is interested in is what they can get...0 -
oh rubbish, she is 25 weeks pregnant, not 7 weeks, hardly the 'minute' is it.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

Yep put in a claim for Mat Allowance - they work out average earnings and pay a % (think 90%) of those - your employer will been to fill in a form saying you won't get SMP. you can download the claim form from Direct.govPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and just in time for the Health in Pregnancy Grant - £190. Get to your doctors quickly to get the paperwork though as this one stops very soon.Life is what you make it. Always has been, always will be
