Car Insurance!!

Just had my renewal for my car insurance through (first post in over a week!) and I couldn't believe my eyes! My premium has more than doubled (last year 211, this year 565!!) I've not made any claims, had any accidents etc. How do they justify this? I did call them and they told me they couldn't get it down any cheaper and car insurance has gone up for everybody! I understand and have seen this in the news, I didn't expect it to double though! How much is the fine for driving without insurance, would probably be cheaper to risk it!! (Only joking, would never do that!!)

Off I go to the car insurance web-sites to find a cheaper quote!

For 2010's insurance I paid near enough £1,000
My renewal came through at £1,125 (no claims)
Shopped around, £694 = result!

I've just been on all the car insurance web-sites and managed to get it to 305.00. I called my current insurers and told them I wouldn't be taking their policy, and would you believe it, they have offered to match my cheapest price!! Not sure what has changed in the hour since I last spoke to them!
