Advice for 7 days in Paris?

Hello,

I am surprising my girlfriend by booking an apartment for 7th Feb till 14th Feb in Paris on Rue Bourg Tibourg, 75004 (the closest metro is) Hotel de Ville.

I was just wondering how much spending money I would realistically need (for food, travel, one or two restuarants on a night out and some places for lunch, access to tourist attraction, etc.).

I do not drink and we won't be going to night clubs so that does not need to be taken into consideration.

Also does anyone have any obvious or not so obvious tips for not wasting money while I am there?

I was planning just spending the entire time in Paris, but would it be worth while travelling out of Paris for a day trip to any sites? If so any recommendations and info?

Also my girlfriend is Mauritian, has a Mauritian passport and a student visa for the UK. Would she need to apply for a visa or anything like that beforehand for the trip? I would like to surprise her with it late January, but if visas, etc. need to be sorted out I better tell her sooner rather then later...

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Your girlfriend will require a visa with a mauritian passport.

Paris has plenty of fab cafes and restaurants and we found you can eat out very reasonably. There are plenty of places to visit without it costing you more than the cost of a metro ticket. One of those places that is just fabulous to walk round, so many beautifull buildings.

    Hope you enjoy it

    No.

Mauritian citizens enjoy visa-free access to Schengen states.

You don't need to spend a fortune enjoying Paris.

If you head for Montmartre ,or the Latin quarter by Notre Dame, you can eat quite cheaply. Most restaurants do what they call tourist menus. Especially around Notre Dame, you can pick any type of food, Greek/Italian/French/ etc, and get three courses for less than you would pay in the UK.

Just go and experience the city. You cannot lose. Even people watching is great. The metro is so easy to navigate that the city is all yours to enjoy.

    Have fun

The river bus is a great way to look around and get your bearings, and you can stay on it for as far as you like for a standard price (may be out of date on this).
If you want to leave the city Versailles is superb.
