You mean they have a built in timer that then destroys the mp3 player before the year is out? You might have had a bad experience with them, but Tescos have been selling them for over a year so if thats the case they wouldnt stock them anymore if they were that unreliable.
What the heck do you do to them that makes them break so easily????
...... do you not think before you post?
Daft comment? How many cheap mp3's have you owned? They sell so well because there cheap and handy, nothing to do with its life span. Im not the only one to have cheap mp3 players fail on me, ever spoken to a tech guy at an electronics shop? They will tell you the failure rates.
Your sarcasm doesnt help to the running of this thread, cheap mp3's fail quite often, so my advice was to purchase from tesco so it can easily be returned it if it does fail within 12 months. Idiot0 -
whether its an mp3 player or a hi fi or a tv, just because the mp3 players cheap(£15/£20) it doesnt mean it wont last as long or longer than an mp3 player thats £200, my tv in my room cost £150 like 12/14 years ago and its still working now,No Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

True, but if you have read my post, you would see I am not simply basing it on the price.0

No supposedly you are posting based on your experience.
Whilst the advice was sound re purchasing from Tescos, the reasoning behind it is not. They are solid state devices, no moving parts and the failure rate will therefore be a lot lower than for other electrical items.
You must be either damn unlucky or just a total oaf to keep breaking them, no need to call people idiots either, was just stating the obvious that your comments were missguided.0 -
Anyone know what the batttery life is of these Tesco mp3 players? If around 7 hours, not really good enough.0

Actually no, having had a high failure rate on these devices as well as OTHER people, I then deicded to speak to someone in industry regarding the issue, who stated himself they are off a high failure rate due to the nature of their production. Dont assume on issues you have no back ground knowledge off.0 -
I think we will just have to agree to disagree, dont want this turning into a flame war.
Many of my friends and myself have owned mp3 players for years without trouble. Guess we have just been incredibly lucky that they still work.0 -
Hi,
I just bought 2 x Technika MP3 players for the inlaws (or outlaws, dependent on your point of view) from Tesco Direct. I plugged them into my laptop to charge them up, and immediately became rather concerned. I've got Avast antivirus installed and it's lit-up like a Christmas tree with the worm, AutoRun-G.
If you do purchase one of these units make sure your computers are protected. Avast, which is free, found the virus, but wouldn't remove it. The free service provided by Kaspersky (google housecall) found and removed the infection.
I'm going to go hound tesco for their poor quality control.:p
I can see how this could happen to any supplier who sells on as a retailer, but there should be checks inplace to protect the consumer from potentially damaging viruses. For example I happen to run my own business which holds a customer database, what happen if that gets into the wrong hands, or the virus sends Spam emails from my accounts?:o
The players seem fine for the purpose, apart from being a Trojan, hopefully now they're clear they'll actualy be worth the money.0
