well, seeing as you're keen and did ask nicely.....

Wash the rice- do this by placing measured amount of rice in a bowl, cover with cold water, gently stir with fingertips, water should become cloudy, drain off this cloudy water, repeat (approx six times) until the water becomes clear.

bring a pan of water to the boil, use approx 1.5 cups water to 1 cup rice

add 1/2 tsp salt per cup of rice and a stick of cinnamon, 1 pod cardamom and a couple of pieces of clove

add washed rice to boiling water and boil for approx ten minutes, rice will have doubled in size and will be medium-soft, but not mushy or too soft

drain off rice in colander and pour a jug of cold water over drained rice

return drained rice to heavy based pan, sprinkle with a handful of water, cover the pan tightly with tinfoil and cover with lid

place pan on a diffuser over low heat and allow rice to steam for at least 30mins. (this method works best on a gas cooker, if you don't have a diffuser use a flat surfaced iron griddle (a thicker diffusing base will require a bit more heat too!)

to check if rice is cooked remove lid and lift off tinfoil, you should be able to see water droplets caused by the steam on the foil)

rice is cooked. SORTED!! Let's eat!
