Raising funds from Stamps

I buy postage stamps from charities to raise funds. I am not a business but just a private individual with 2 disabled children who wants to help any charity I can to fundraise in this way. I am a stamp collector so that helps too and I love sorting through to see if I can find a new stamp for my collection. The waste is recycled afterwards so it cuts down in that way too.
I work with around 100 charities to fundraise so if anyone is keen to collect stamps to raise funds for their charity, school, organisation please feel free to let me know. I'll refund the charities postage costs too.
It won't make a fortune but it is better than throwing them away and can be an ongoing form of fundraising.

  • When you say 'recycle' I hope you don't mean throwing them in the paper bank! Stamps can be sold on in quantity so they still have a value.

Indeed I don't throw them in the paperbank, perish the thought!!

I said that the waste is recycled. The waste being the trimmings from around the stamps.

I hope that puts your mind at rest.

Can you pass on any info to me about who may buy stamps in bulk. I already have a buyer for the stamps that I don't want but I have never heard of anyone else who buys them. If I can get more for them then I can pass this onto the charities that I work with to fundraise.
Bear in mind these are mostly common stamps as I always use all the others.

    Any info gratefully accepted.

Jet44, I may sound a bit thick but do you mean stamps that have been used, I have been saving stamps off any letters I receive as I heard they can be useful to some charities.

You are not thick at all and thank you for saving stamps to help charities.

I buy any stamps at all, used, unused, collections, coins, postcards. Many charities collect stamps as a way to raise additional funds It can become a nice little steady boost to their funds.

    Keep up the saving.

I just thought I would give this thread a little bump as there seems to be many questions being asked about this form of fundraising for charities.

I hope nobody minds as I just hate the thought that some people still throw them away when they can be put to very good use.
  • Hi Jet

I have been collecting stamps for my wifes charity for the last 12 months and I am after 'cashing them in'

Some have been collceted from various places in the world, as I advertised on lots of sporting forums.

pm me when you have a moment to explain how to go about things.

Another bump as it may be of interest to some.
