Hi
Im new to letting and wonder if anyone could advise me if letting agents are better to use than internet based letting such as spareroom .com?
I have had quotes from letting agents and think I could get the same money advertising the house myself.
In short im moving an hour away so will worry about my property, my house is 3 bedroom and near public transport links so should not be a big problem to rent out judging from other lets in my road.
The agent osf course charge approx £1000 upfront so they look after obtaining rent making sure it goes into my bank account plus they get the references from potential tenants etc
So do I save 1000 and do it myself?
Has anyone regretted not letting via agents?
Hope someone can advise
Thanks

Are you an experienced landlord or is this the first time you will be going into this business?
If you're a newbie, and your post suggests that you are, I would absolutely NOT recommend you let your property without doing a whole heap of research so that you are acquainted with some of the risks you could be taking, letting-agent or not. Some professional tenants can sniff out an inexperienced landlord from a mile away. How would you fancy finding yourself lumbered with that professional tenant who stops paying the rent and it takes you six months to legally evict while they trash the place costing you thousands?0 -
Read this thread and use the references there. LOTS more to consider than the question you asked.0
