USB3 worth waiting for?

I'm looking for a new laptop. I've seen reports that a new USB socket will be introduced soon that is much faster. Do I buy my laptop now or wait for one with a USB3? I don't download videos and the such like except for an odd transfer from my video camera.

Why wait what have you got that is USB 3 that you are going to use on your laptop .
If you buy a USB 3 device in six months it will still work at USB 2 speed . If you have USB 2 devices they will work on USB 3 at USB 2 speed .
To take advantage of USB 3 speed you need to buy new USB 3 devices to replace your USB 1/2 devices .

If you expect to use external hard disks then USB3 is a big advantage, but both ends of the connection need to support it otherwise it will only establish a USB2 connection. There are also some comparatively expensive memory sticks that make use of USB3.0

Buy one now, no reason above given to wait.0 -
I already have Marvell SE 9128 and a SATA3 drive on a daughter card. The x58's are going to run at about £150 for the MOBO alone so the price of the lappie is going to be expensive.
As for USB peripherals there is no reason not to buy [ backwards compatible ] but plugging a 3 into a 2 controller will give you no advantage at all, you really need a 3 MOBO / memory configuration to get the benefits.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
