Flat 18 months old, boiler broken down. NHCB?

Options
My son moved in to a new flat 17 months ago.

All was well until a few days ago and now the boiler has broken down so no heating and hot water. I have looked on the NHCB website to see what is covered and it says this:

In the first 2 years of your Buildmark cover, your builder is responsible to put right any defects or damage reported to them, which are caused by non-compliance with NHBC technical standards

He is going to call the building company ( a reasonable sized localised one) and see if he is covered and if they will come out to fix but before he does can any one tell me if he is entitled under the NHBC regs so he knows what grounds he is on.
Appreciate your help. THanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Nothing to do with NHBC. He needs to get the name of the installing plumber. The boiler should have come with a warranty card that your son probably should have filled in and sent off when he moved in.
  • Thank you so much for your very prompt reply.
I have just rung and advised my son. I expect the chances of him finding the details are pretty slim but atleast we know where we stand.

    Cheers:beer:

Heating breakdowns on new boilers in this weather is OFTEN but not always due to the outflow pipe freezing up.... It's a safety feature!

If you can get to the pipe easily then pour hot water on it to defrost it - worth a try. Mind ladders/ice outside though whilst dealing with hot water.
(It'll be the plastic pipe about an inch diameter I think)
