Smoke Damage after house fire

When Claiming on my contents & buildings insurance how will i know what smoke damaged contents I can & cannot claim for my policy is new for old with accidental damage the whole house is covered in a soot or ash but the kitchen is a wreck any advice.

    i would have thought anything that cannot be easily cleaned up.
    ask the insurance company. if youre not happy with them, then ask an independent assessor.
    Get some gorm.
  • They would probably get a loss adjuster out anyway so I would pretty much start writing a list of everything & how much I paid for it & what it is to buy now.

    List everything on a spreadsheet & you can easily add, remove & alter prices etc.

    & you will be adding things you never even thought of in days/weeks to come.
