Boiler trouble...quick efficiency question
Options
I've been having a few problems with my boiler this month and despite having british gas out twice they can't pinpoint the problem. Basically sometimes it just will not fire up leaving me with no hot water or heating
I can't afford to leave it on continuously as it costs over £8 a day (I'm on a prepaid meter), so what I wondered was if I turn all the radiators off will I use less gas? I figure I could leave the boiler running then, turn the rads off at night and then not have to worry.
Any advice please?

You should always turn of the radiators in the rooms not in use, and of course the more you have off the less gas you will use.
Turning down the wall thermostat will mean that the boiler will not be using gas until the temperature drops to the level set on that thermostat.0 -
Thanks! I don't have a wall thermostat but I think there's something like that on my boiler. I'll turn some rads off now0

Dubious advise IMO. First what happens when you do want to use the room? Second what happens when the door is opened and all the heat floods into it. If you have thermostatic valves then turning down the heat on some of them may be worthwhile. I would want i hgave enough heat, in this weather, to stop things freezing up as well.0
