Upgrade or new PC

Thanks for the replies, they've been really useful and I've decided to get a new PC.
I'm thinking about getting the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card - from reading online reviews it seems to deliver good value for money.
Is it worth getting a quad core over a dual core CPU or would the money be better spent on a higher spec graphics card e.g. the ATI Radeon 6870? Does it depend on how much game programmers start to produce more games that make full use of quad core CPUs?0

Quad core is always nice however a higher spec GPU would be more beneficial.0

            Hi,
 Is Dino PC any good?
How does it compare to Ankermann PC (Germany)?another vote for new pc, if gaming is the reason for the computer its worth spending on the system.
now everything depends on your budget my normal reference system is this http://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/configurePrd.asp?idproduct=935 which is a good starting point for price and performance, although i have no idea what the customer service is like as i have never got anything from them0

the value for the spec is good,
customer service however i dont know as i have never got anything from them since i build my pc's myself, this being said as Jax has pointed out from the reviews, their delivery date/estimates are not usually the best, but once you do get the system you will have got a good spec system for the moneyDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
 10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
 20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0

remember when looking at reviews 5770 is good value only when you buy just the card.
For good value pc you need to look at whole package.
if i spot anything decent at your budget i will post link
i never bought off dino pc assumign they are reliable, i will have quick look to see if there any nice gaming machines0

Ebuyer do some decent systems. I bought one similar to this for my parents, and it works very nicely:

It only comes with onboard graphics, but you can afford a 5770 as well, within your price range. It's just a base unit, so you'd need the monitor/keyboard/mouse from your existing machine.
Right now, I wouldn't bother much with a quad core for gaming. I'm a programmer myself, although nothing to do with games. I don't really understand why it's so difficult to make games make better use of multi-core CPUs, but they don't seem to make that much use so far, and not much progress is really being made. I guess maybe it's just that the performance is usually limited by GPU not CPU, so they don't really need to make much effort.0

Many games out there will use two of the four cores, but for other non-gaming functions eg video editing/encoding they will use all four, so you need to know PorkBlonde, what this replacement PC will be used for.
The 5770's a good minimum option as graphics card but really the best thing to do is to see what the specific website offers right when it's the time that you're going to order it, and we'll tell you the very best one then.
Power supply wise, If you go with Ebuyer for the system then my minimum option cost £55 when I looked at it, for a 530W PSU

For any of the others I mentioned, £20 more - but that one above is 10% of the total budget so fits financially anyway.0

If you are mainly using your computer for gaming it may be more economical to buy a games console - if you don't have one already - because they are designed purely for gaming.0
