help.. cheap fridge nneded urgant where can i get one

cut a long story short.. my fridge freezer was on its last legs.. the freezer packed up 2 years ago....

on freecycle someone was advertising a fridge and a freezer.. which i picked up earlier.. just before hubby went to pick them up..

we took ours to the tip... we brought the fridge and freezer home.. pluged in the fridge.... and within 5 minutes there was smoke and the smell of something burning..

the person had advertised a fridge which was broken... there was smoke coming from the back of the fridge....:mad:

so now i have no fridge... and need to get one tomorrow..
god knows where i am going to get the money from...

will have to use credit card.....so do anyone know where the cheapes place in the swansea area to buy a fridge..

and i would advise anyone dont get anything electrical from the freecycle site.....

.....i thought my day was going too good...

oh no cooltrikerchick that is terrible, sorry cannot think of anywhere to get a fridge/freezer from in Swansea, unless you can do an R&R at Tescos

thanks welshy.... but i think the fridges are a bit heavy for me to carry to the scanners to do a price check lol

i think hubby will have to go to curries or somewhere tomorrow when he comes home from work and get one..

to top it all he's on 12 hours shift tomorrow...

so i have now washed my hands of freecycle... the last thing we had ..was someone advertising a spider.. when hubby picked it up it was dead.. and had been dead for a while....

i think some people only advertise stuff to save them taking them to the tip themselves....

i am rearly mad:mad: ..... but there we are.. its happend.
even though my fridge was on its last legs... it worked just about.....

If you have access to Makro the fridges there are usually fairly cheap.
Sorry to hear you have had bad experiences with freecycle.

Theres a 'reconditioned' place on neath road in swansea... we bought our fridge/freezer there last year... although theyre second hand, theyvee been done up and come with a years guarantee... we payed 75 quid for ours and its still working perfectly..

thanks guys....managed to borrow a table top fridge.. a little thing..... so pressure was off for a bit....the thing is we had a loan come out on the 26th for £267. and then on the 31st today we had our mortgage come out with is £247. so totally brassic....hubby has covered someone's weekend shift in work so that is in this weeks pay ..so will not need to use c.c. now.... will get one on the weekend....

panic over.... but i will def.. not have anything from the freecycle site again...

Was in similar position 2 weeks ago and cheapest I found to take away (couldn't wait for delivery but they did load it into my car for me) was a husky larder fridge £89 from large Asda. Has been ok so far, touch wood.
