Travel insurance question

Hi, sorry, hopefully this is a really stupid question and really obvious!
We're in Australia at the moment, based in the UK normally - and are due to fly back on the 29th.
Our holiday insurance covers us up to the 30th.
What happens if we're delayed mid-way in Dubai, and end up having to spend x amount of days there until flights recommence at Gatwick, should the snow be bad - will we be covered, or only up to the 30th?
The small print in our policy (taken via Insure & Go/Debenhams) doesn't really say either way, and googling doesn't help!
Mother in law thinks we'll be fine, but I'm not so sure with the policy finishing when it does. I've emailed Insure & Go to find out where we stand, and if we could extend the policy (I'm not hopeful) but wondered what happened if anyone has been affected by this, or indeed when the volcano happened.
Thanks in advance!

I was held up by the Volcano in April. I contacted the insurer who told me I was automatically covered until I returned to the UK.
I think I read somewhere that all insurers should do this.0 -
thank you!
I eventually got a reply from my insurer, who says we're covered for an additional 30 days from when the policy lapses if we're not back in the country - so a huge sigh of relief here!0
