Internet Explorer constantly crashing

Hi I am wondering whether anyone on here may know a solution to an issue I am facing with my PC.

I have been away for a few weeks and since I have been back my internet explorer has not worked. Everytiime I load up it says that there has been an error and it has to close. I have tried it in safe mode with networking and it works and I do have an internet connection as I can get emails and access MSN etc, its just IE that isnt working.

I have run Adaware, Spybot search and destroy, Avira Anti-virus, Malware Bytes and Glary Utilities cleaner and it still does not work as well as doing a system restore.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that could help me solve this issue?

Install Google Chrome see if thats any better - I love it anyway
  • Thanks I was thinking about doing that but I am presuming that I have some kind of virus on my machine and by installing a different browser it might only be a short term fix

    Reset internet explorer
    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    3. Click the Advanced tab.
    4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.

And finally see if you get the same crashes with IE when you pick the No Add-ons version that's been present from v7 onwards - its launcher might be put into System tools though, rather than the main Programs menu.

I was advised to do this on my computer and now I can access the internet again but cannot play media. What would be the reason that IE wouldn't work before? Any ideas?

if reseting ie to defaults/disabling all add-ins doesn't work, uninstall adaware and spybot, if still not working, post a hijackthis log
