Private Storage Insurance

Options
Hello All,
Bit of a strange question. I'm storing some of my belongings in a friends barn whilst I live in a smaller house. It's only a temporary thing. As the friend isn't charging me for the space in the locked barn it's much cheaper than using yellow box or similar storage. However, I need to get some insurance for the items that are being stored in the barn. Any ideas on how and where to get this from? As it's not an official storage location so insurastore.com doesn't work.
Thanks!

Personally I'd be inclined to try insurance companies or brokers.

But also check your current contents insurance. It often includes cover for contents temporarily in storage though that would be with the likes of Yellow Box. But it might be cheaper to pay Yellow Box and use your existing insurance than the cheaper friend's barn but have to pay for aditional insurance.
  • Agree with GM on your own contents insurance. I recall being surprised to find some time ago that "my" items stored in someone else's house were covered...
