XBOX live adaptor?

Have brought son xbox live for xmas not realising i'll need an adapter.

I have wireless downstairs but xbox upstairs

Is there a cheaper alternative that does the same job?

Game and Amazon have it for £42.99.

Argos do sell a cheaper alternative but it gets mixed reviews.

There's also Homeplugs/Powerline adapters, but I'm not sure they'd be much cheaper overall.

If you get something non-xbox specific you might find other uses for it further down the line

OP what xbox does your son have, if its the new style then 1 wont be needed but if its the old style white or black(elite) version then 1 will be needed, i believe the new black adapter is wireless N so you might want to make sure the router is N or buy the old white 1 if you want the adapter and xbox to match in colour terms(shouldnt matter if the adapter isnt visible)

actually the latest xbox 360 slim version already has a wireless adaptor built in

if he has the 360 elite (version before the shiny slim one) or the arcade (white) then he will need one of those adaptors - you may be able to get one preowned, try looking on ebay

If you have a wireless laptop, you can connect the XBox to the laptop using a normal Ethernet cable, then using the laptop to connect - theres a few videos on youtube showing how to do this.
