We ordered two leather sofas from DFS on 14 August and were told they would be delivered in 3 months (ie. 14 November ish). Got a call on Friday 20 October to say they were ready and could be delivered on Tuesday 24 October. ie nearly 3 weeks early. They duly arrived but sadly looked a lot bigger than in the show rooms (why can't all show rooms be set up as rooms 12ft x 12 ft). No problem said the delivery guys, and they prompty removed the lounge window, put aforementioned sofas in the lounge and then replaced the windows. Husband said they were 'absolute diamond geezers' and promptly rang DFS to compliment them on the service. :T Good on DFS

Fantastic blokes to very great to chat too. Also even though they shouldnt have they brought my brothers old sofas (which i was having) to my place (as they had a deilvery in my village just up the road)
I would recommend them to anyone0 -

I had a sofa deliveried in march from DFS. The other week me OH jumped on it and broke the arm. Great. I rang them and they were lovely - booked a time and the man rang me the night before to check. I explained that I had the school run and he said that he would wait for me. Sure enough when I got home, he was waiting and it took him an hour to fix.
Was really impressed from start to finish.WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000

Sorry to rain on the parade.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong with your sofas .If the unthinkable happens and they start to fall apart after a few months.Be prepared to do battle with perhaps the nastiest company trading in this country,They will do everything they can to get out of there obligations under the sale of goods act .
If anything goes wrong think carefully about your first step and be prepared to threaten court action to recover your loses .You might have to..0 -
we never had any problems either, new suite 18mths later, new little daughter draws all over it with a biro I'd just put down, it was cream coloured, we phoned them and the following day they was round and cleaned the whole suite adn got rid of the pen, no idea what they used but it shinned like new after they'd gone, they cleaned the two seater too so it matched0

DON'T TOUCH IT! DON'T GO THERE! DON'T GET SUCKED IN! MORE TROUBLE THAN IT'S WORTH! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! FOR YOUR SANITY DON'T DON'T DON'T!!!!!!
Our sofa that we bought 2 years ago has been a problem shortly after we bought it. It has leather cushions but is an oak wooden frame with a slatted base. It is an attractive sofa similar to the Ekornes stressless ones but not a recliner. But first of all the frame came apart then the process begins... phone calls waiting in for inspectors, waiting in for delivermen to fetch, then bring back every problem takes weeks or months to fix. The frame broke twice, the slatted base isn't fit for the purpose thin little bits of wood and breaks so easily. Over the last 2 years there has probably been no more than six months that the sofa has been able to be sat on. We detest it now we are currently waiiting for a new slatted base to arrive. It can't be sat on and is cluttering up our house. It has broken twice when visitors have sat on it which is so embarassing for all concerned. It broke once when I sat down with a cup of boiling black coffee. DFS will only "repair" there term not mine as the replacement parts are not fit for purpose I have discussed this till I am red face and furious and they insist that they have never had this problem before. They are a bunch of con men and liars, there is no way this is true!
We want rid of it but hate letting DFS off the hook. It seems a shame to tip it. But we can sell it as we know it won't last and I would even feel bad to give it to the local charity shop.
Any advice would be gratefully received but my main purpose for posting was to warn you all don't go there more trouble than it worth. Whenever those irritatating DFS ads are on I feel so wound up I wish I had never stepped foot in the showroom.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
have you at any point got advice from trading standards and put your complaint in writing?
two years after purchase may be too late I dont know, thats how businesses work as they elongate the time by doing repairs so it reduces your comeback when asking for a full refund.
We had a suite from them, three times they had to come out to try and bodge, I mean 'fix' the settee, in the end I got some really helpful advice from TS, I used one of their sample complaint letters which quoted the sale of good act and a dead line for their response, and the manager himself visited and agreed with us! he 'encouraged' us to go back to the shop and 'reselect' a new suite but we pressed him to admit that we had a right to our money back as it was not 'fit for purpose' or of 'reasonable quality' and we had given them 'sufficient opportunity to put the mayyer right' , we looked but didnt want another DFS one and got the credit agreement cancelled before the first payment was due! Also if you have a credit agreement with them, contact the credit company they too are also legally involved in some way. And appear to 'lean' on DFS to do something
We then bought a suite from ikea in the end, that had a few minor problems so we called to ask for a repair, a local upolsterer came out, sent a report to Ikea, they said we could have a new one no probs! They were fantastic.
Let me know how you get on, I will try and dig out our old letters if that will help, I know just how you feel when the DFS ads come on, it just winds you up and you cant relax on the damn thing!0
