IE problem

Has anyone had a problem with something called the Conduit toolbar? After looking on conduit my IE keeps crashing saying it has a problem with the toolbar. I did not install anything. When I open IE the website is already in the address bar. IE is now impossible to use. I have tried uninstalling it, (IE) but that seems to be impossible. I have tried system restore.
Some might say do without IE but I like to solve these little mysteries. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.

Thank you I now appear to be functioning again. I carried out the actions suggested by both replies.
