The moon-shaped eyebrows, feline eyes, high-cheekbones - the slight scent of irony about lips that sip from a cigarette as she glides into the frame; Marlene Dietrich embodied the femme fatale of the silver screen for much of the twentieth century.
The simmering, 'strange delight' of Dietrich mesmerised cinemagoers, men and women alike, and she still remains an icon in Hollywood's pantheon of great actresses alongside the likes of Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo and Katherine Hepburn.
To celebrate the famously husky-voiced singer's life and work, Universal Pictures have released Marlene Dietrich - The Movie Collection, including 18 of Marlene Dietrich’s greatest Hollywood films. The 18-disc box-set is available to buy from November 27th, but can be pre-ordered now.
This unique collection includes classic Marlene films directed by the world renowned director and photographer Josef Von Sternberg. There are 12 new premiere releases which are: Blonde Venus, Desire, Angel, The Devil is a Woman, Follow the Boys, Dishonoured, Flame of New Orleans, Golden Earrings, Morocco, Scarlet Empress, Shanghai Express and Song of Songs. The rest of the collection contains the following titles: Touch of Evil, Destry Rides Again, A Foreign Affair, Pittsburgh, Seven Sinners, The Spoilers.
To celebrate this release we are giving you the chance to win the complete box set worth £150 and the opportunity to go on a three-night trip to Berlin, including flights, stay in a four star hotel and visit the Marlene Dietrich museum. The trip comes courtesy of MOSWIN TOURS, a specialist operator offering the widest range of holidays throughout Germany. Over 25 Christmas Markets in Germany and Oberammergau Passion Play 2010.
