Something like a paper picnic table cloth would be quick to pin up.

I think it would be easier to just paint it quickly now ,then fill any holes and do it again later.The wall won't mind being painted twice.

they will come in handy later for when you do paint the room.

Tesco value wrapping paper is bright red, 15p each for three meters and I think still on the 342 offer. That might jazz up the room a little without being expensive
