Best wintersports insurance for possibly cancelled flights?

I'm due to fly for a ski trip on boxing day and am now worrying with the snow.
I am looking to purchase my insurance this weekend and want to know if any companies are better than others for paying out, especially taking into consideration a chance my flight may be delayed/cancelled.

My other worry is getting to the airport in bad weather as I had planned to drive, but it's already 3 hours from me! Will the company pay out if I simply can't get there?

I'm useless when it comes to the small print!

Insurance is for unknown events. Now that the snow is a known, possible or highly likely event, you are unlikely to find insurance to cover that. If you have bought your insurance before the recent snow you would have been covered.

You are also unlikely to find insurance which will cover you for not getting to the airport due to weather. It is up to you to make sure you get there in time by whatever means. You should really consider travelling to the airport the night before and staying over.

However for winter sports you will need to choose a policy that includes this to make sure you have cover for everything else.

As for small print, you need to read the T&C's of any policy you are considering to make sure it covers what you need it too as no-one can do this for you. With insurance there is no one-size fits all.
