Am I being paranoid or is buyer wasting my time??

Hi,
I had my old mobile listed on ebay and the auction ended today, my problem is that the winning bidder has a feedback of 2 and has had no activity on their account since Jan 05 (member since Sep 01, location: usa). This is ok I guess but the winning amount is about 6 times more than the bidding pattern on my item, eg it jumped from £56 in the last 2 minutes to £310 (winning bid).

Am I being overly paranoid?

  • I would'nt mind betting he/she wants it sent to a neice/nephew/son/daughter in Nigeria for a special present. Surely £310 is too much for an old, second hand mobile?

You won't know if your parania is appropriate until you have soem contact with the buyer! If he/she does turn out to be a messer, you contact the next highest bidder and offer the item to them for their highest bid, or simply re-list it :)

Yeah, I know the options available, it's just amusing that the next highest bidder only registred today and bid £300!!

That's Exactly what happened!! I feel sorry for the people who actually fall foul of this scam.

Could someone please tell me how i would report an email to eBay from the person who "won" my item.

I've had a look on eBay under the help section and found the place to report it but it requires the item number and after i've entered all the info i.e. header and email body details, eBay doesn't recognise my item number as they have retracted the listing - it seems this person was using another user id.

I have received two emails (in my personal account) from this winner saying that she's paid me via paypal blah blah blah but i would like to report it eBay.....
