Do you mean this card? Looks like the repayment time varies depending on what you buy.

you can pay anywhere between but must get the payment on time or the intrest is very high, they are quite strict on acceptance.
  • depending on what benefits you receive argos are unlikely to accept you if not working.

They are strict and the initial credit limits can be very low (I started with £100)

I applied for the card years ago because they were intending to launch a visa/mastercard (via Providian National Bank) and thought they would convert storecards

I applied by phone and I would recommend that method (or instore) rather than the internet

I applied for an Argos card, I was rejected, I earn £30k per year, I have less than £1k of debt, they seem to be very strict, I'll buy my goods elsewhere

In response to the OP, the plans are simple.
You either buy several items and are given the option to pay later, or you buy a big item with plan on. Depending on the cost the plans are either 3, 6 or 9 mths. Some larger household items are over even longer periods.
The statment will tell you the date the plan will end. You MUST pay the total amount of the plan by this date OR they will add interest. And they backdate it to the date of purchase and I believe it's interest on the full amount. So it's in your best interest to pay before the due date.

I also wasn't working when I applied several yrs ago, but my partner was. This may have made the difference in my case?? I was given a card with a limit of £100. I've only once asked for an increase, which was granted, although they did ask why I wanted it? I wanted a large piece of furniture. They agreed. I think my limit was currently £200 at the time, so quite early on.
My limit is increased every time I pay off a plan on time, or at least thats the way it appears to be working. MY current limit is £2190.
