Is there a bank that will definitely offer a basic bank account for someone with a bad credit history? I'm not sure how bad but I know they have been refused bank accounts recently. One is a 19 year old student, the other 28 years old but has had credit issues since her uni days.

I would recommend either:
Natwest - Step Account
Yorkshire Bank - ReadyCash Account
You should be able to open both of these accounts even with adverse credit.0 -
Thanks. I'll advise them of that.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

Also the Cooperative Bank Cashminder account will accept anybody and this comes with a electron debit card.0

I think I am in an unusual position. I am a middle aged high earner. my basic salary is £72k plus I earn bonuses. However I have a poor credit rating due to recent periods without work. Is there a bank account out there that will help me as I want to claim back the charges from my current provider who were happy when times were good but now that I am in steady employment again (1 year) are being difficult and unhelpful!0

Have you tried HSBC? I love them and they are absolutely fantastic. You will at least get a Solo Card on even their most basic account!Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
