Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

SYSTEM RESTORE: Start - computer - properties - system protection - (close system window) - click on Sytem Restore, follow instructions from there.

This should automatically create restore points at major programming points or certain time intervals, there should be one there previous to trying to install your new AV.

Sorry that this is so long after, but I've been away over Christmas. HijackThis seemed to install fine, and it seems to have managed to create a log file. I've just inserted a [USERNAME] where the User's login name was before.
