Small club - DIY membership cards

I've just taken over as membership sec for a small club of around 40 people, and the current method of printing membership cards is a bit crude - just printing from a home-made Word template onto a sheet of card that's perforated into ten business card sized areas.

It's Ok, but the perforated edges look a bit amateurish, and it's awkward and wasteful if you need to print less than ten at a time.

So has anyone got a more elegant solution? Google doesn't help much, as it just seems to find ~loads~ of sites that will print business cards for you. It needs to work with an inkjet, and not be ~too~ expensive per card.

Solved (I think). Looks like Decadry Topline sheets are what I need, as they have smooth cut edges and are attached to a backing sheet. Just need to buy some now and see what they look like in the flesh...

If anyone has tried these or anything similar and has any real experience using them, please let me know.

Well depending on how much you can spend...

You can pick up a simple printer for PVC membership cards for £140 (bundles of 100 blank PVC cards can be found for around £5)
Single colour ribbons are around £10 and give you 1000 prints

Thanks - that's a professional-looking solution, and the cards would be really durable, but the cost per card would work out too high for such a small club.

The DECAdry ones are only card - and only 200g/m2 at that - but they work out at about 6p each, so it's no contest if cost alone is a deciding factor (which it is in this case, when up against £1 plus per card, spread over 3 or more years with the Zebra).
  • Use plain Card, borrow or outsource (to a friend who has access to a
Laminator and a Guillotine). I used to do similar with bingo cards/lending library cards etc for a nursing home (not the one I live in :D) If it's a small operation ie only 40 members someone will do a similar service for a small fee for their funds.
