lost my job and cant pay minimum payment on credit card

ive been reading this thread and why are so many posters quick to judge him a fake? i have been in this situation and i feel he is genuine. c a b may offer advice but they wont pay it for you. the question is if you really cant afford to pay min payment no more then really the c card company cant do anything. rent food utilities must come first. and its true the council will put you temp in hostel whislt awaiting a council house. its true you cannot get blood out of a stone. if he had no assests then he cannot be expected to pay, impossible. its unsecured loan and will no assest how can they make him pay? so wont his c card co just write it off eventua;;y? seems pontless them say maybe appointing a debt collector, if the man is in a hostel, firstly they have to find him second if he has no phone number or job i dont see how he can be found and made to pay can you?

i think you have two options here

1. ignore the credit card company - they will eventually catch up with you and you may have even more to pay back with interest and debt collection agency fees

or

2. write to your credit card company and explain your situation. If you are on benefit then you will not be able to afford anything other than a token £1 a month repayment. If you write with your incoming / outgoing and your change in circumstances they should accept this (although they will kick up a bit of a fuss at first, but just perservere). They will know where you are but at least you are in controk and wont get any nasty surprises in the future.
