It sounds like your company's way of saying that you shouldn't use your own USB sticks on company PCs and either

    a) don't try to put private files on work PCs or
    b) even more worrying, do not process work files on private machines and then bring them back in to work. Something your IT security people would really be interested in.

i thought this may be the case. i live and learn but thanks
  • Are you saying you can't read the file on your work PC?
Or that you've read the file, but the flash drive is now encrypted in some way and you can't read it at home?

If it's the latter, have you tried formatting it?

Or perhaps you allowed it to be encrypted , therefore enter your userid and password into the pointsec prompt, however I would guess that you would need to be connected to the office ntwork for that.
