Letters are showing up as ‎

Hi does anyone know why letters are showing like this ‎ on my laptop. They are just randomly there instead of the proper letter or symbol like the £ sign is showing as â when I am reading it from the net not when I type the letters myself.:o

    Hi
It looks like you've got the keyboard set to an East European layout.
With Windows you can probably change it back to English by looking in 'Control Panel' then 'Regional Settings' or something similar.

    Edit
I've read your post again, maybe it's not the keyboard setting.

It sounds to me like your regional settings have got screwed up somehow - if you look in control panel you should be able to set them back to English UK. Exact way to do it varies with release of windows.

Also check whether your NumLk key has become switched off - that can cause strange letters/symbols to appear.
