Direct Debit date change

Greetings all!
I have a direct debit due to come out jan 2nd 2011, but i'm not going to be able to cover it untill the jan 10th 2011 is it possible to change the debit date?
btw it's an estate agent direct debit for rent

Changing the date is up to the estate agent. If you're not going to be able to make it, you may want to cancel the direct debit with your bank and notify the recipient - they will then have to chase you through other means for the payment. However you need to look at your contractual obligations with the recipient to see what impact that will have on your relationship.
But at least it won't damage your relationship with the bank as well...0 -
Are you sure it's a direct debit? If it's a standing order the bank can change this for you, a direct debit would need to be the company though. In either case you should still let them know you'll be making the payment late.0

Although the originator may have charges that they apply on late payments. Plus, we are talking about a rent payment here.
